UW SBDC Hosts Cash Flow Webinar Aug. 24

Small-business owners may wonder why their profit-and-loss statement shows a profit, but they have no cash.

To understand how a company’s balance sheet and profit-and-loss statement tie together, a Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) webinar, titled “How Cash Makes Cents: Managing Cash Flow in Your Business,” is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 24, from 2-3 p.m. Attendees will learn about areas to look for hidden cash and receive other tips to ensure their business operation is sustainable.

The SBDC is a partnership among the University of Wyoming, the Wyoming Business Council and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The SBDC focuses on educating small-business owners and potential owners on how to successfully start and operate small businesses. The SBDC’s main office is located at UW.

SBDC Regional Directors Bruce Morse and Justin Farley will present this one-hour webinar. Morse has been with the SBDC since 2006 and has served in various positions in the banking industry for 22 years prior to his current position. Farley has a background in banking, financial markets, real estate and business ownership.

“Watching the financial reports is so important for a small business, and this webinar will help folks understand how the profit-and-loss (statement) and balance sheet relate to each other,” says Cindy Beth Unger, business adviser for the Wyoming SBDC.

There is no fee for this program, due to a Portable Assistance Grant from the U.S. SBA. However, participants must register to obtain the webinar link at www.wyomingsbdc.org. The program will be recorded so registered attendees can listen at a later time.

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made, if requested at least two weeks in advance. Language assistance services for clients with limited English proficiency will be provided. For more information, call Peggy Baker at 1-800-348-5194.

The Wyoming SBDC Network is a business advising group of the Wyoming SBDC, Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Market Research Center and SBIR/STTR Initiative. The network’s mission is to help Wyoming entrepreneurs succeed. Advising and most market research activities are free of charge to Wyoming residents.

The SBDC is funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. SBA. Additional support is provided by the Wyoming Business Council and UW.
