Sexual Assault Prevention Program Scheduled Sept. 26 at UW

A two-person team of highly trained educators will present a sexual assault prevention program at the University of Wyoming Tuesday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom.

During the Sex Signals program, educators will discuss issues related to sex and dating in college. UW’s 7220 Entertainment hosts the event, which is free and open to UW students.

According to its webpage, Sex Signals has become one of the most popular sexual assault prevention programs on college campuses. Programs have been held more than 3,500 times, and more than one million college students have seen the program. The program was awarded “Speaker of the Year” from Campus Activities Magazine in 2015 and 2016.

The program features facilitated dialogue, several semi-improvisational scenes and audience participation to further explore and learn what is considered acceptable social and sexual behavior. The program is designed to educate students about sexual violence by identifying intervention strategies and recognizing their thoughts, actions and communication in their lives.

Sex Signals updates its act every six months to stay culturally relevant and regularly implements new teaching strategies based on research from numerous studies.
