(CCTI), a clean-energy company based in New York City, have signed an agreement to further develop the company’s patented technology to convert run-of-mine coal into a cleaner-burning and more efficient fuel.

Nominations Accepted for UW Student Commencement Speaker

October 2, 2017 — One University of Wyoming graduating senior will be selected to speak during UW’s fall commencement ceremony Dec. 16, and the offices of President Laurie Nichols and Provost Kate Miller are accepting nominations for that honor through Oct. 20.

October 2, 2017 — Scientists have been using an ancient Greek fable written by Aesop as inspiration to test whether birds and small children understand cause-and-effect relationships. In “The Crow and the Pitcher,” a thirsty crow realizes it should drop stones into a pitcher in order to raise the water level high enough so that the bird is able to drink it.

United Way Kickoff Oct. 9 at UW; Gift Certificates in Some Mailers

October 2, 2017 — The University of Wyoming’s 2017 United Way campaign will begin Monday, Oct. 9, with a campus campaign kickoff from 11 a.m.-noon in the Wyoming Union’s Yellowstone Ballroom.

October 2, 2017 — During the Vietnam War, the Ho Chi Minh Trail was cut through the perilous mountain terrain by North Vietnamese to run supplies, ammunition and soldiers to reach South Vietnam. Similarly, a stretch of highway along the Interstate 80 corridor was constructed in rugged mountainous areas, which has not been popular over the years, especially during brutal Wyoming winters.

UW Trustees Education Initiative Board to Meet Oct. 17

October 2, 2017 — The University of Wyoming Trustees Education Initiative (TEI) Board is scheduled to meet Tuesday, Oct. 17, at noon in Salons D and E of the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. The meeting is open to the public.
