Community Band and Civic Chorus Fall Concert at UW Nov. 6

The University of Wyoming’s Community Band and Civic Chorus will have their fall concert Monday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

The Civic Chorus is a 90-voice ensemble composed of campus and community members, and the Community Band is an ensemble of musicians composed of students, faculty and community members.

Tickets cost $10 for the public, $6 for students and $7 for senior citizens. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Performing Arts box office, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

The Community Band performance will feature pieces such as the Sousa march “King Cotton”; Richard Rodgers’ music from “South Pacific”; Charles Carter’s “Overture for Winds”; Robert Reynolds’ setting of Morten Lauridsen’s “Contre Qui, Rose”; and band arrangements from Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” and von Suppe’s “Light Cavalry Overture.”

The Bach cantata “Christlag in Todesbanden” will be presented by the Civic Chorus, and UW faculty and student string players, and also Theresa Bogard on harpsichord. Chorus soloists featured are Maureen Boddicker, soprano; Katrina Zook, alto; Stewart Cramer, tenor; and Allen Adair, bass.
