Campus Construction Update for Dec. 17

These are among the construction activities scheduled Dec. 17-Jan. 6 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center (All City Floor Company, Denver, Colo.) -- The contractor will refinish the floors in Half Acre. Work is scheduled Dec. 18-23.  

College of Business Building (Arcon Inc., Laramie) -- Installation of new windows on the third floor is ongoing. Use caution in the area, as it will be partially blocked off for demolition on the walls and for adding new sprinklers.

White Hall (Commercial Flooring, Cheyenne) -- Work to install blinds in the “fishbowl” areas of each floor will begin the week of Dec. 18 and continue into January. Please use caution around the area and equipment.

River Village Apartments (UW Operations, Equipment and Plumbing Shops; February 2018) -- Operations to replace existing heating system expansion tanks with new tanks and vents will be ongoing in mechanical rooms, as weather permits. Please use caution around crews and equipment.

Central Energy Plant (Arcon Inc., Laramie; December 2017) -- Construction fence is set up around the work area. The sidewalk on the west side of 19th Street is closed, and 19th Street will be blocked occasionally. Please be cautious of crews and equipment in the area.

Engineering Education and Research Building (EERB) (Construction manager GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Casper; spring 2019) -- Miscellaneous steel detailing remains. Concrete on the metal deck is complete, and associated topping slabs are 90 percent complete. Concrete block is being placed to form the pilasters around the building. Exterior and interior metal stud framing and exterior sheathing are underway. Mechanical/electrical/plumbing rough-ins are underway. Roofing is underway. Please steer clear of heavy equipment or delivery trucks parked on city streets. Click here to see a map showing revisions to bus routes and street closures. Please observe all construction signs.

Mick and Susie McMurry High Altitude Performance Center (Construction manager at risk GE Johnson Construction Wyoming LLC, Jackson; June 2018) -- Exterior veneer is complete, except for the new north entry additions and final paving/landscape improvements. Drywall hanging/finishing, painting, tile and all other interior finishes are in progress. Selective demolition for the Rochelle Athletics Center is underway and will start for the entire building Dec. 26. Traffic control, signs and barricades will be in place at the building interior and exterior during this process. Please use caution when near the project, and observe all construction signs. 

Agriculture C and Engineering Addition Buildings (Summit Sealants, Montrose, Colo.; July 2018) -- Painting, caulking and minor repairs to the exteriors of Agriculture and Engineering will be ongoing through the winter, as weather permits.  

White Hall (UW Operations Shops; June 2018) -- Phase 1 modifications to the north- and south-side exit stairwells, to prevent cold-weather freezing in the soffits, will occur. Each stairwell will be closed at grade level for two days to prevent demolition dust nuisance in core drill phases. Please use the opposite stairwell or elevator when signs are posted. Outside soffit louvers will be removed, blocked and refinished next spring, as weather allows. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area.

Landmark Square Apartments (UW Plumbing Shop) -- A contractor will perform annual boiler maintenance to all the boilers in the mechanical rooms at the apartments Dec. 18-21.

River Village Apartments (UW Plumbing Shop) -- The plumbing shop will work in various mechanical rooms at the complex Dec. 18-Jan. 19, upgrading the heating systems. Please excuse the noise and interruptions.

Corbett Building (UW Operations Shops; January 2018) -- Masonry work to access the outside air chase for damper and insulation modifications, to reduce sub-zero freezing and improve comfort in Room 206, will begin. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area.

Education Annex (Gem City Roofing, Plumbing Company, Laramie; March 2018) -- Modifications to drain the west-side Literacy Center canopy roof to prevent slip hazards will be ongoing, weather permitting. Please use caution, and observe signs around the construction area.

Downey Hall (Adventure Construction, Laramie Mechanical; January 2018) -- Initial phases of east-side soffit modifications and insulation addition, and access to add heat to the west-side soffit will be accomplished, weather permitting. Please use caution around work activities, and observe signs around the construction area.

The following project is complete:

Cooper House (Stonewood Design & Construction, Laramie; December 2017) -- Reconstruction of the south-side outdoor patio columns is complete.
