A Cappella Group Tonic Sol

Award-winning a cappella group Tonic Sol-fa will perform Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Wyoming’s Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tonic Sol-fa began at St. John’s University in central Minnesota. The ensemble is composed of Shaun Johnson, lead vocalist; Greg Bannwarth, tenor and vocal percussionist; Theo Brown, baritone and percussionist/vocal percussionist; and Jared Dove, bass.

Dove, from Green River, will return to his hometown for a concert with his fellow group members Thursday, Feb. 22. The group will perform at 7 p.m. at Green River High School.

Tonic Sol-fa has become one of the most successful independent acts in the country. The group has sold 2 million CD copies of its own independent releases. Additionally, the group has toured extensively throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Tonic Sol-fa has shared the stage with a number of prominent performers including Jay Leno, Jeff Foxworthy and Lonestar. The group has appeared on NBC’s “Today” show and Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” and has released three public television specials.

The ensemble has received numerous awards and honors including an Emmy Award in the “Musical Composition/Arrangement” category; two Independent Grammy Awards for “Best Original Holiday Song” and “Best Pop Song”; multiple Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards; and the National Association for Campus Activities’ Contemporary Artist of the Year. Additionally, Tonic Sol-fa was recently inducted in the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.
