Campus Construction Update for Feb. 11

(Note: The weekly construction update highlights only projects with new developments. Comprehensive updates are distributed monthly. For the most recent comprehensive update, click here.)

These are among the construction activities scheduled Feb. 11-17 at the University of Wyoming:

Colder Weather Advisory (UW Operations) -- UW Operations asks building occupants to assist with ensuring buildings and facilities are safe and secure. Make sure all windows and doors are completely closed with windows latched at the end of each day, and report any doors or windows that you are unable to close and secure to the Service Desk (766-6225).

Snow Removal (UW Operations) -- Crews will remove snow as needed throughout the season. Watch for snow-removal equipment; be careful and safe during snow events. Call the Service Desk (766-6225) to report icy spots and problem areas.

Classroom Building (Stonehouse Construction) -- The Classroom Building is now operational with access to all major entrances and exits to the building. Walking mats have been installed in areas with temporary paving. The final phases of work will occur at the end of the spring semester.

Wyoming Union Third Floor, Veterans Services Center (Shepard Construction; summer 2019) -- Demolition will continue on the third floor through the month of February. The south end of the west wing will be impacted by the noise for the next few weeks. Exterior project staging is on the southwest side of the Wyoming Union. Please be cautious around crews and equipment in this area, and observe all construction signs.

Knight Hall (UW Operations masons, Colorado Hazard Control, Denver, Colo., Plumbing Co., Laramie; May 2018) -- The southwest entrance portico will be closed Feb. 12-13 for ceiling abatement. This will allow the roof drain line above to be rerouted so water no longer drains across steps creating a slip hazard. Please observe signs and barricades.

Wyoming State Vet Lab (Laramie Mechanical and Heating Systems, Laramie) -- Work has started to replace one of the hood exhaust fans in Lab 203. The work should not affect other parts of the building except the lab involved. Contractors will bring a crane to mount the new fan on the roof. Please be cautious near the crews.
