Native American Leadership Speaker Series Begins Friday at UW

Terri Smith and Leslie Shakespeare

A member of the Eastern Shoshone Business Council and the Wind River Indian Reservation Tribal Court chief judge are the first two presenters in a speaker series at the new Native American Education, Research and Cultural Center at the University of Wyoming.

Leslie Shakespeare and Terri Smith will speak at noon Friday, March 2, at the center, located on the corner of 10th and Ivinson streets. Their discussions are part of the center’s Native American Leadership Speaker Series. The event is free and open to the public.

A soup luncheon begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by introductory remarks from UW President Laurie Nichols.

Smith is the chief judge of the Wind River Indian Reservation Tribal Court and an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe. Shakespeare is a member of the Eastern Shoshone Business Council and an enrolled member of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe.
