UW Graduate, Business Founder to Speak with UW MBA Students Friday

February 20, 2018

Jerad Stack, a successful startup founder and technology executive, will speak with University of Wyoming Master of Business Administration (MBA) students Friday, Feb. 23, in the College of Business.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the enterprise software and broader technology industries, Stack will share his business insight with students -- as part of the MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series.

A fifth-generation Wyoming resident, Stack holds a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree, both in mechanical engineering from UW.

Stack’s wide-ranging career, strong leadership skills and entrepreneurial expertise have allowed him to experience a variety of fields, including communication satellites, consumer electronics and Formula One race cars.

Stack is the founding member of Breakthrough 307, a startup network and angel fund. He also is an entrepreneur in residence at UW’s Wyoming Technology Business Center, and founder and CEO of Firehole Technologies, a Laramie-based, venture-backed, engineering software company. One of his most recent projects is “Coworking@TheDurlacher,” a shared workplace concept in downtown Laramie.

In 2017, Stack was appointed by Gov. Matt Mead to the Economically Needed Diversity Options for Wyoming (ENDOW) executive council. He currently chairs the ENDOW committee that is working to promote entrepreneurship, innovation and creative economies in Wyoming.

The MBA Program’s Executive Speaker Series, this spring, allows UW MBA students the opportunity to participate in roundtable discussions and receive real-world learning experiences from a group of diverse industry leaders, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, financial service representatives and sports industry executives.

The UW MBA Program is accepting applications for the 2018 fall semester and will admit qualified students on a rolling basis until the cohort group is filled or June 30, whichever comes first, says Tanner Parmely, MBA Program coordinator.
