UW Public Art Idea Swaps to Air on WyoCast Wednesday

Members of the Laramie and University of Wyoming communities will have an opportunity to participate from a distance in public art “idea swaps” Wednesday, Feb. 21.

Discussions led by consultants Jennifer McGregor and Renee Piechocki, of the Public Art Network for Americans for the Arts, will be aired via the WyoCast system.

The first, for faculty and staff members, is noon-1 p.m. in Room 129 of the College of Business Building. The WyoCast link is https://wyocast.uwyo.edu/WyoCast/Play/bbbde8bd202248acb00e40d3625af6f21d.

The second, for the community as well as faculty and staff, is 4-6 p.m. in Room 506 of Coe Library. That WyoCast link is https://wyocast.uwyo.edu/WyoCast/Play/2a2c6f0bb0ca47099a27ebddc48abfd01d.

The consultants will present art strategies, project types and locations, programming and resources for art to energize the campus and engage students, faculty and staff. After a brief overview of the topics, the meetings will involve small-group discussions.

McGregor and Piechocki have conceived public art strategies for Laramie as well as the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston; San Pedro Creek in San Antonio, Texas; Cross Charlotte Trail in Charlotte, N.C.; and the city of Lancaster, Pa.

The UW President’s Public Art Committee, which leads the development of the university’s public art plan, hosts the “idea swaps,” with funding from the Associated Students of UW.
