Year-End Union Fest for UW Students May 4

April 19, 2018

Union Fest, the annual year-end celebration for University of Wyoming students, will be Friday, May 4, with various activities planned throughout the day. Union Fest is free and open to the public.

This year’s theme, “Union Fest Strikes Back,” was selected because the event is held May 4 -- the official Star Wars holiday.

Times and locations for Union Fest events are:

-- 11 a.m., free food on Simpson Plaza, including walking tacos, ice cream, cotton candy, snowcones and popcorn. Yard games on Prexy’s Pasture will include “Minute-to-Win-It” games with prizes; a caricature artist; airbrush tattoos; and inflatables. DJ Zimbio provide live music.

-- 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m., live music from DJ Zimbio, on Simpson Plaza. DJ Zimbio is a UW graduate who will play top hits of today and dance music.

-- 5 p.m., free cookout, yard games and live music on Prexy’s Pasture. Performance by Orgōne, an afro-funk band from California, and special guest Analog Son, a funk band from Denver, Colo.

-- 9 p.m., Union Fest at Night in the Wyoming Union will include free food, inflatables in the Wyoming Union West Ballroom, massages, making sugar scrub and creating stuffed animals. To participate in making a stuffed animal, a ticket is required with a valid UW student ID and will be available at the Wyoming Union information desk beginning Monday, April 23.

-- 9:30 p.m., stand-up comedian, improviser and actress Alice Wetterlund will perform in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Wetterlund performs regularly at comedy houses in California, as well as at festivals and clubs across the continent. She also has starred in several films and television shows, including “Silicon Valley,” “People of Earth” and “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.”

-- 10:30 p.m., Marvel’s “Black Panther” will be screened in the Wyoming Union Family Room.

This event is co-sponsored by Associated Students of UW, 7220 Entertainment, the Wyoming Union, Residence Life and Dining Services, Associated Students Technical Services, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and Alpha Gamma Rho.
