UW to Experience Water, Steam Outages Next Week
Portions of the University of Wyoming campus are expected to see water and steam outages as a result of two separate projects next week.
First, the city of Laramie’s water department will barricade and dig to expose a broken water valve in the intersection of 13th and Lewis streets Monday, May 14. City employees will try to make the repairs Thursday, May 17, unless other emergencies in town need to be addressed.
UW buildings that may see water outages are: Service Building/Fleet Services, Anthropology, Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility, Earth Science, TransPark, Berry Biodiversity Conservation Center, Bureau of Mines and Wyoming Humanities House. During any outages, people in those buildings are asked to use restrooms in Wyoming Hall, the Education Building/Education Annex, Agriculture C, the Engineering Addition, Energy Innovation Center, Geological Survey, S.H. Knight/Geology, Pharmacy, Biological Sciences and Health Sciences.
Second, UW’s Central Energy Plant will have two short steam outages and one long chilled-water outage Wednesday, May 16. The outages will begin shortly after 7 a.m. for both steam and chilled water.
The first steam outage will be from about 7-9 a.m. The second steam outage will be about 4-6 p.m. The chilled water will be offline from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. The outage lengths are approximate and may change from the estimates. These outages are necessary for the installation of a new chiller at the Central Energy Plant. For more information, call Forrest Selmer at 766-2077.
