UW Vehicles Part of Highway Patrol K-9 Training Exercise
If you see University of Wyoming vehicles being searched by law enforcement officers and their drug-sniffing dogs Tuesday morning south of Laramie, don’t be concerned.
The UW vehicles are being used as part of a training program for Wyoming Highway Patrol K-9 enforcers from across the state.
A significant number of UW’s fleet -- a pickup and trailer, a cargo truck, a utility vehicle, a van and a bus -- will be relocated to the port of entry dirt lot on Highway 287 south of the city for the two- to three-hour exercise. This is at the request of the Highway Patrol, which says the “enhanced criminal interdiction” exercise aims to improve public safety.
The patrol welcomes public viewing of the training exercise.
