UW Health Clinic to Expand Patient Access, Services at New Location

August 27, 2018

In response to a growing need for space, the Albany Community Health Clinic (ACHC), operated by the University of Wyoming, is moving to a larger building in Laramie.

The ACHC will complete the move and open its doors to patients Thursday, Sept. 6. The Binford Square building, located at 1174 N. 22nd St., will nearly triple patient access to comprehensive primary care and mental health services.

Compared with the four exam rooms at the clinic’s current location at 920 E. Sheridan St., the new clinic will provide 11 exam rooms, a procedure room and a lab area. The ACHC recently added mental health to its service line. The new location will provide dedicated rooms for mental health diagnosis; therapy; medication management; and treatment of conditions such as anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, bipolar disorder, depression and opioid addiction.

In addition to providing mental health services, the ACHC offers a full range of medical services, including acute illness and injury care, chronic disease management, physical examinations, preventative care and minor surgical procedures.

Clinic personnel includes a family nurse practitioner, two psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, a licensed professional counselor, and nursing and support staff.

“We are excited to move to our new location and provide valuable health care services to more Laramie-area residents,” says Richelle Keinath, ACHC clinic director. “We promote health and wellness to everyone who walks through our doors, because we are dedicated to improving the quality of life of our patients and our community.”

The ACHC serves as the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Albany County. It is one of three Educational Health Center of Wyoming (EHCW) clinics located in Laramie, Cheyenne and Casper. The EHCW and UW share a co-applicant model because of the family medicine residency programs in Cheyenne and Casper. The dual mission of the EHCW is to provide medical education and comprehensive health care services to all individuals, regardless of ability to pay.

Open since April 2017, the ACHC accepts Medicaid and Medicare, provides a sliding fee discount and bills most insurance plans.
