Wyoming Music Festival Featured in Grand Teton National Park Aug. 8

Two days of music will be featured Wednesday, Aug. 8, and Thursday, Aug. 9, at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center, and the University of Wyoming-National Park Service (UW-NPS) Research Center, both located in Grand Teton National Park.

“The Wyoming Festival: Sparkling New Chamber Music Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act” will be performed both days. A free preview concert is featured Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center. Thursday’s performance is at 7 p.m. at the UW-NPS Research Center, located at the AMK Ranch. A wine and cheese reception precedes the performance at 6 p.m., and desserts will be available after the concert. A $20 donation is suggested for the Thursday event.

The Wyoming Festival is a 10-day chamber music festival featuring new concert music inspired by the wild and natural setting of Grand Teton National Park. The festival is held at the UW-NPS Research Center each summer.

Wyoming Festival chamber artists-in-residence -- world-renowned musicians, all of whom also play in the Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra -- are led by violinist and Wyoming Festival music Director Holly Mulcahy and includes Richard Barber, bass; Mary Corbett, violin; Anna Kruger, viola; and Amy Leung, cello. Through a juried process, music composition fellows from across the nation are invited to participate. Also featured are composer-in-residence Rob Deemer, from State University of New York-Fredonia, and festival director and composer Anne Guzzo, a UW associate professor of music.
