Jonah Bank Executive to Speak with UW MBA Students

Kim DeVore, senior vice president, chief financial officer and a founding director of Jonah Bank of Wyoming, will speak with University of Wyoming Master of Business Administration (MBA) students Friday, Sept. 21.

DeVore brings her experience and background in business to the presentation as part of the UW MBA Program’s emphasis on experiential learning.

Her career began through DECA while she was still in high school. Since then, she has filled almost every role within banking, and she was recognized as the 2015 Wyoming Woman of Influence in the banking and finance industry. DeVore is active in several community organizations.

Following DeVore’s presentation, second-year MBA students will present their summer consulting projects from the program’s McMurry Summer Consulting Project.

The presentation group includes Ashley Bridges, of Cowley; Ann Francis, from Dallas, Texas; Ryan Gallagher, from Boston, Mass.; Doug Hodge, of Buffalo, Mo.; and Anna Huber, from Huntsville, Ala. Mark Peterson, UW professor of marketing and sustainable business practices, is the faculty adviser.

All UW MBA candidates participate in the program’s summer consulting program. Students work in multidisciplinary teams to address real problems, challenges and opportunities for a variety of businesses. Businesses range from local startups and economic development entities to global corporations.

At the conclusion of the program, students present their recommendations and action items to business owners, executive committees or the companies’ board of directors. Student outcomes have often included opportunities for post-project consulting engagements and job offers, says Tanner Parmely, UW MBA Program coordinator.

The MBA Program is currently accepting company project proposals for summer 2019.
