The Dustbowl Revival, an Americana-style band, will perform as part of the University of Wyoming Presents 2018 fall lineup Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Laramie’s Gryphon Theatre.

Tickets cost $15 for the public; $12 for seniors, and UW faculty and staff; and $10 for students. Tickets are available at the Wyoming Union information desk and the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts box office, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at

Los Angeles-based band The Dustbowl Revival “would have sounded utterly at home within the hallowed confines of Preservation Hall in New Orleans,” according to a Los Angeles Times review. The band’s Americana sound has gained recognition from fans across the nation in recent years, according to Rolling Stone Editor Rob Sheffield.

The Dustbowl Revival has evolved over the years, working with Grammy Award-winning producer Ted Hutt. Hutt is best known for his work with Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy and Old Crow Medicine Show.

In 2015, the band released “With a Lampshade On.” The music video for “Never Had to Go,” a song on the album, featured Dick Van Dyke. “Never Had to Go” also was featured in the HBO documentary “If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast,” which starred Jerry Seinfeld, Betty White and Tony Bennett.

The Dustbowl Revival has received national recognition, including a No. 1 debut on Amazon Americana and alternative-country charts; nine weeks on an Americana radio chart; a debut on two Billboard charts; and “Americana Song of the Year,” according to the Independent Music Awards.

Each year, UW Presents brings a variety of internationally known performers to campus, often at ticket prices much less than at larger venues. This season features four performances during the fall semester and five spring semester performances. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. in either the Performing Arts Center or the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. The Gryphon Theatre is hosting the opening performance this fall.
