UW Faculty Recital Series Features Duo Oct. 28

The University of Wyoming Department of Music’s Faculty Recital Series will feature oboist Jennifer Stucki with pianist Xin Chang Sunday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

The recital, titled “Fantasy,” will feature music such as Benjamin Godard’s “Legende Pastorale,” Joseph Schwantner’s “Black Anemones,” Dirk-Michael Kirsch’s “Ganymed,” Hector Berlioz’s “La Mort d’Ophelie” and Paul Patterson’s “Phoenix Concerto.”

Stucki is an oboe lecturer in the UW Department of Music and is from Colorado Springs, Colo. She performed with the Skokie Valley Symphony, the Racine Symphony and the Sapphire Woodwind Quintet before coming to UW. For four years, Stucki was the principal oboist for the Navy Band and part of the Fair Winds Woodwind Quintet. She also has performed as a soloist for many of the symphonies she has performed with.

Chang is a collaborative pianist in the UW Department of Music and is from China. She has worked as a collaborative pianist at the International Violin Festival and Competition in Singapore and at the Interlochen Center for the Arts. Chang also has performed at multiple music festivals and received second place in the Colorado International Piano Competition at the University of Northern Colorado.
