UW Board of Trustees to Meet Nov. 14

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will consider creation of a major in construction management and selection of a consultant to conduct a Wyoming Union visioning study during the board’s regular meeting Wednesday through Friday, Nov. 14-16.

Trustees will receive reports on a variety of other issues during the meeting, which will be held in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Board meetings are open to the public, except for executive sessions.

Various committees of the board will meet throughout the day Wednesday. The full board meeting begins with an executive session at 8 a.m. Thursday, with the public session slated to start at 10 a.m. The public testimony period is set for 10 a.m. Friday.

The proposed construction management program has been developed by the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering in UW’s College of Engineering and Applied Science. It would provide a high-demand bachelor’s degree whose recipients are expected to receive strong interest from regional and national employers.

The Wyoming Union visioning study is intended to produce a comprehensive, 30-year plan for UW’s student union in preparation for renovations that will allow the facility to fulfill its mission of providing a nurturing environment where students are encouraged to pursue excellence, develop leadership and realize their potential. The Wyoming Union opened in 1939 and received renovations and additions in 1957, 1973 and 2002.

Among the issues about which the board is scheduled to receive reports are: fall semester enrollment; employee and student satisfaction surveys; UW’s Engagement Task Force; the Biodiversity Institute transition plan; and student housing improvements.

Board members also are scheduled to meet with UW’s Energy Resources Council at 7:30 a.m. Friday at the Hilton Garden Inn, and to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony for the Science Initiative facility at 1 p.m. Friday.

The complete agenda, along with a report that includes background information on agenda items, is available at www.uwyo.edu/trustees/2018-meeting-materials/november_14-16_2018_meeting.html.

Public sessions of the full board are streamed online at https://zoom.us/j/381140209?pwd=&status=success.
