The University of Wyoming Chamber Orchestra presents “A Little Serenading Music” Sunday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Tickets cost $10 for the public, $7 for senior citizens and $6 for students. Tickets are available at the Performing Arts box office and the Wyoming Union information desk, by calling (307) 766-6666 or going online at www.uwyo.edu/finearts.

The concert will open with works from Mozart and Tchaikovsky. The evening will feature the premiere of UW student Chase Jordan’s “White Rim for String Orchestra, Piano and Percussion,” the winner of the 2019 Douglas B. Reeves UW Chamber Orchestra Composition Contest.

Jordan’s piece is a musical commemoration of the desert landscape of Canyonlands National Park in Utah.

Jordan, co-principal of the UW Symphony Orchestra, is working on a bachelor’s degree in viola performance, with a secondary emphasis in music composition.

He studies with Anne Guzzo, a UW Department of Music associate professor who teaches composition. He has worked with composers David Maslanka, Libby Larsen, Jake Heggie, Daron Hagen, Gilda Lyons and others. His compositions have been performed at UW, the Charlotte New Music Festival, the Tidewater Brass Festival and the Wintergreen Music Festival, where he was a Susan Talarico and Mike Sundermeyer Scholar Award recipient.

For more information, call Kathy Kirkaldie, UW Fine Arts coordinator, at (307) 766-2160 or email kirsik@uwyo.edu.
