UW Energy Summer Institute Now Accepting Applications

The University of Wyoming’s School of Energy Resources is now accepting applications for the Energy Summer Institute (ESI) July 14-19. Applications are due by May 15.

High school sophomores and juniors currently enrolled in the spring semester are eligible to attend the program. The cost of attendance is $300 per student; however, scholarships are available for students in need.

The fee for attending ESI covers the cost of food, recreational activities and room accommodations, but students may wish to bring extra money to pay for personal recreation, snacks, laundry and other personal purchases.

ESI students will live together in the UW residence halls. Rooms feature two beds, two study desks, two closets, telephones and laundry rooms. There also is a hotel-style desk staffed 24 hours a day.

Participants will eat in the Washakie Dining Center and will receive three meals a day while on campus. Included daily is a choice of nutritious entrees, low-fat and vegetarian selections, hot breakfast, salad bar, deli bar, fresh fruit and a wide selection of desserts.

During the program, students will explore current energy challenges and some of the innovative and promising solutions on the horizon; participate in programming with UW faculty, staff and current students; discover the Shell 3-D Visualization Center, housing the only 3-D cave in Wyoming; visit with current industry professionals; and more.

In addition to learning about the industry and exploring some of Wyoming’s natural wonders, ESI students will have the chance to rock climb with professionals and will have access to UW athletic facilities, including the swimming pool, weight room and aerobics room.
