Plans Taking Shape for UW Fall 2019 Move

Fall 2019 residence hall move-in and Cowboy Connect will be Friday, Aug. 30, starting at 7 a.m. at the University of Wyoming.

Parking, maps and helpful move-in information will be available through UW Residence Life and Dining Services this summer. Cowboy Connect is UW’s new student transition program and is designed especially for incoming freshman and transfer students to make connections on campus.

Each activity offers important information and experiences that will help students be successful. The Cowboy Connect schedule and additional information will be available this summer.

“We are excited to welcome our new students to campus and encourage families to make hotel accommodations early, as this weekend will be heavily booked with the Missouri football game scheduled for Saturday,” Vice President for Student Affairs Sean Blackburn says.

Information on Laramie hotels and other Laramie activities may be found at www.visitlaramie.org.

With move-in day occurring on a regular work day, UW employees should be aware that parking will be restricted within the residence hall complex and the Wyoming Union parking lot.

Once again, UW President Laurie Nichols encourages faculty and staff members to volunteer to help with new student move-in.

“Each year, our incoming students and their families tell us how exciting it is to be greeted by faculty and staff from across the university. This outreach helps them feel welcomed into the community during a time that may be marked by stress and anxiety,” she says. “Such a strong commitment to welcoming our students demonstrates the caring culture of our campus and the many ways we rally together to support our students’ success.”

Faculty and staff members interested in serving as move-in volunteers should speak with their supervisors and then register with Renee Ballard by emailing tballar1@uwyo.edu or calling (307) 766-3125. Residence Life will work within your schedule based on the needs at each hall or station.

UW will once again offer a “One Stop Shop! Friday” from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Aug. 30 in the lower level of Washakie Dining Center. New and returning students and their families can get all of their questions answered about life on campus in one convenient location.

Available resources include: Admissions; Advising, Career, Exploratory Studies Center; Dean of Students; Dining Services; Disability Support Services; Financial Aid; Parking and Transit Services; Registrar’s Office; Residential Housing Association; Student Financial Services; University Store; UW Police Department; and Vending Services.
