UW Campus Master Plan Surveys to Open Soon

Members of the University of Wyoming community are invited to participate in two surveys to assist with the university’s yearlong master planning process.

The process was initiated last month to prepare a new master plan for UW’s Laramie campus. The plan will articulate a vision for the campus and establish a framework for investments in campus land and buildings over the next 20 years, taking into consideration plans for growth in enrollment, academic and research initiatives, and needs for student life and housing, as well as athletics and recreation. It also will consider campus landscape, infrastructure, and mobility and accessibility systems, including connections with the city of Laramie. 

The two surveys are:

-- CoMap/Collaboration Survey -- Prepared by Sasaki in collaboration with members of the university’s Master Plan Steering Committee, this survey is highly interactive and will provide vital information to help shape the future development of the UW campus. The survey invites students, faculty and staff to respond to questions such as “Where do you study, research or teach?” and “Where do you eat, recreate or socialize?” Faculty and staff will be asked to respond to additional questions about whom they collaborate with today and with whom they aspire to collaborate with in the future.

This survey will be released this week.

-- Wyoming Union Visioning and Campus Dining Survey -- Prepared by Mackey Mitchell Architects and Envision Strategies as part of the Sasaki master planning team, this survey also will be sent to students, faculty and staff, asking them to share preferences and experiences on both campuswide dining and the Wyoming Union. As both dining and the Wyoming Union are central to campus life, input from all members of the UW community will help to shape how the campus evolves to better meet the needs of the community today, as well as expectations in the future.

This survey is anticipated to open in early April.

All members of the UW community are encouraged to participate in the surveys, as a broad range of student, faculty and staff responses is critical to the success of the university’s planning efforts. The data from these surveys will contribute to the master plan that will provide a roadmap for the development of the physical campus for the next 20 years and beyond.
