RSO Award Winners Announced at UW

University of Wyoming student groups were recently recognized for their efforts during the 17th annual Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Awards of Excellence banquet.

The 250-plus campus organizations provide outlets for students to become involved, make friends and network. They host hundreds of events on and off campus; attend conferences that enhance their professional development; and participate in service activities that impact the university and local community.

The annual RSO Awards of Excellence banquet recognizes these groups and also student leaders for their accomplishments from the past year.

The Campus Activities Center (CAC) presented awards in several categories.

The winners of the awards are:

-- Best RSO Poster Award: Indian Students’ Organization (MILAAP) for the organization’s annual Diwali Night.

-- Outstanding Adviser Award: Jacqueline Rickett, Wyoming Union, as Rho Lambda adviser.

-- Best New RSO Award: International Association of Drilling Contractors. In the first year of formation, the organization was recognized for taking students across the country to enhance their portfolios.

-- RSO Community Service Award: Wellness Ambassadors for hosting more than 70 events to promote health and well-being, with an average reach of 165 community members.

-- RSO Officer of the Year Award: Cheyenne’s Chris Folsom, of Spectrum.

-- Sara Axelson Outstanding RSO Award: The American Institute of Chemical Engineers for demonstrating commitment, character, citizenship, community service and visibility on the UW campus.
