University of Wyoming Calendar for July 29

These are among the activities scheduled July 29-Aug. 4 at the University of Wyoming:

Monday, July 29, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. -- UW’s 27th annual McNair Scholars Research Symposium will feature research presentations from undergraduate students. The event will take place in the Wyoming Union Family Room. Free.

Tuesday, July 30, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie, “Dawn of the Space Age.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Wednesday, July 31, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. -- The Woodpile, an indie folk band, will wrap up the UW Summer Concert Series on Simpson Plaza. Free.

Friday, Aug. 2, noon -- UW students with valid UW student IDs are eligible for free movie tickets on select Fridays this summer. Students may pick up tickets from the Wyoming Union information desk Aug. 2, Aug. 9 and Aug. 16 starting at noon on each date. Tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday, Aug. 2, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “Dust, Light, Dust.” The STAR Observatory on the rooftop of the Physical Sciences Building will be open to the public for a “star party” from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

A variety of exhibitions can be seen at the UW Art Museum in the Centennial Complex, located at 2111 E. Willett Drive in Laramie. The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday hours are extended to 7 p.m. Free.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
