The University of Wyoming’s Summer Concert Series wraps up with The Woodpile Wednesday, July 31. The event is free and open to the public.

The Laramie-based group will perform from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. on Simpson Plaza. UW Residence Life and Dining Services will provide burgers -- including a veggie option -- pulled pork, hot dogs, sides and drinks for purchase from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

The Woodpile, a five-piece indie folk/rock band, creates “unique and thoughtful composition techniques that enhance the sounds and textures of a variety of instruments,” according to the band’s biography.

Band members are Evan Gwin, vocals, guitar and banjo; Brendan Ruwart, vocals, percussion, guitar and banjo; Jessie Salas, cello and vocals; Molly DeLau, cello and bass guitar; and Jesse Twitchell, electric guitar and vocals. The five met through their connection with UW’s Department of Music and the Laramie community.

Wyoming Public Radio listeners voted the band’s EP, “Hunting Hearts,” as one of the Top 10 Wyoming Albums of 2017. The Woodpile is planning to release its debut full-length record next month.
