University of Wyoming Calendar for Aug. 12

These are among the activities scheduled Aug. 12-18 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie double feature, “Mayan and Mexica Archaeoastronomy.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Wednesday, Aug. 14, 5:30 p.m. -- Thomas Risse and Tanja Borzel, both professors at the Free University of Berlin, will present “Challenges to the Liberal International Order -- What Is It Good for?” at the Centennial branch of the Albany County Public Library. Their talk is part of the UW Center for Global Studies’ “What in the World?” summer program. Free.

Thursday, Aug. 15, 5-7 p.m. -- The UW Art Museum will host a reception for the exhibition “Western Explorations: The Wyoming Arts Council Biennial Fellowship Exhibition 2018 and 2019.” Free.

Friday, Aug. 16, noon -- UW students with valid UW student IDs are eligible for free movie tickets at the Wyoming Union information desk. Tickets are given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Friday, Aug. 16, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “The Search for Terra Nova.” The STAR Observatory on the rooftop of the Physical Sciences Building will be open to the public for a “star party” from 8:30-9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
