University of Wyoming Calendar for Aug. 26

These are among the activities scheduled Aug. 26-Sept. 1 at the University of Wyoming:

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 5-7:30 p.m. -- The Wyoming Center on Aging, based at UW, will host Healthy U, a health workshop for people managing chronic pain and their friends, family and caregivers. The workshop will be in Ivinson Memorial Hospital’s Summit Room. There is no cost to attend, but space is limited. To register, call (307) 766-2765 or email dduhamel@uwyo.edu.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, 7 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium full-dome movie double feature, “Mayan and Mexica Archaeoastronomy.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Wednesday, Aug. 28, 11 a.m. -- Cowgirl soccer vs. University of Northern Colorado, Louis S. Madrid Sports Complex. Free.

Friday, Aug. 30, 4-5:30 p.m. -- The UW Alumni Association will host a Kickoff Friday event at the Alumni Center in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. The event will include light appetizers and a cash bar.

Friday, Aug. 30, 8 p.m. -- UW Harry C. Vaughan Planetarium show, “Brilliant Horizons.” Tickets cost $3 for students and $4 for non-students, Physical Sciences Building basement. Advance tickets are available in the Physical Sciences Building, Room 204, or by going online at www.uwyo.edu/physics and clicking on “Planetarium Schedule.”

Saturday, Aug. 31, 8 a.m. -- The annual household item giveaway for international students attending UW will take place in the parking and circle drive area south of the Cheney International Center. Donations can be dropped off between 7-7:45 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 31, 10 a.m. -- The UW Visual Arts Department Faculty Exhibition will open at the UW Art Museum. Free.

Saturday, Aug. 31, 5:30 p.m. -- Cowboy football vs. the University of Missouri, War Memorial Stadium. Ticket prices vary.

Dinosaur skeletons, ancient mammal fossils and other exhibits are on display in the UW Geological Museum. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.

The UW Department of Botany’s Williams Conservatory is open to the public Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Free.
