Chestnut Appointed UWs Acting VP for Student Affairs

Kimberly Chestnut, associate vice president and dean of students for the University of Wyoming, has been named acting vice president for student affairs, pending approval of the university’s Board of Trustees.

“I had the privilege of working with Dr. Chestnut when I was Temple University president and found her an exceptional colleague,” Acting President Neil Theobald says. “I am tremendously grateful to her for her willingness to serve in this role to advance our efforts to serve our students.”

As acting vice president for student affairs, Chestnut will partner closely with the acting president and the other eight vice presidents to advance and support best practices. Chestnut succeeds Sean Blackburn, whose last day was Sept. 17.

Chestnut began serving as UW’s dean of students in 2018, after working as assistant vice president for student affairs at West Chester University (Pa.). She has held positions at the University of Colorado-Boulder, Temple University in Philadelphia, Berkeley College (N.J.), Antioch University Midwest (Ohio) and Widener University (Pa.).

Chestnut holds a doctoral degree in human sexuality education and a master’s degree in education, both from Widener University; a master’s degree in psychology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.; and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado-Boulder.

She is a member of the American College Health Association; National Association of Student Personnel Administrators; American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International; Association of Title IX Administrators; Advanced Sex Educators and Trainers; American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists; and Delta Gamma fraternity.
