UW Employees Invited to Wyoming Supplier Fair Oct. 15

University of Wyoming employees have been granted one hour of release time to attend the inaugural Wyoming Supplier Fair Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The event runs from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Ballroom. Numerous raffle prizes, including two tickets to the UW vs. Nevada football game, and light refreshments will be provided.   

The event is part of UW’s BUY-WY initiative, which formalizes the university’s commitment to support Wyoming’s economy.

“I would challenge our university community to find ways in which it can expand the involvement of Wyoming suppliers in its purchasing activities,” Acting President Neil Theobald says. 

The scheduling of release time should be a collaborative discussion between employee and supervisor to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the unit.

The university averages about $600,000 in procurement card purchases each month on general goods, services and contracts. It is estimated that, for every dollar spent locally, the community is positively impacted with an additional 50 cents in economic activity. Even a small increase in purchases by university departments will make a positive impact on Wyoming’s economy.

Businesses from across the state will be present at the Supplier Fair to share information about their businesses; strengthen existing relationships; reconnect with past customers; network with others; and learn more about UW’s procurement processes.
