Energy Law and Policy Issues Focus of UW Conference Oct. 25

National, regional and local experts will discuss current energy topics and securing a sustainable natural resource future at the Center for Law and Energy Resources in the Rockies (CLERR) conference Friday, Oct. 25, at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center.

“We look forward to hosting this conference every year,” says Temple Stoellinger, co-director of CLERR, which is under the University of Wyoming’s College of Law. “This conference is open to the public and is a great opportunity to learn more about current topics and issues of energy and environmental law currently at play in the Rocky Mountain region.”

The UW School of Energy Resources and CLERR host this annual conference, in collaboration with the Wyoming State Bar’s Energy and Natural Resources Section.

The conference begins at 8 a.m. with a welcome and remarks by UW Acting President Neil Theobald, School of Energy Resources Executive Director Mark Northam and UW College of Law Dean Klint Alexander, followed by panel discussions.

“We are particularly excited about this year’s lineup of topics and speakers, as we are covering a number of really important issues and topics,” Stoellinger says.

Conference session panel topics are: “The Energy Transition: The Disparate Rules, Impacts and Influences of Federal and State Law and Regulation,” 9:30-10:30 a.m.; “Hot Topics in Oil and Gas,” 10:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m.; and “Legal Uncertainty in Coal Country” from 1:45-3:45 p.m.

A keynote speaker, as yet unnamed, will speak from 12:45-1:30 p.m.

The conference costs $50 for the public and is free for UW students, faculty and staff members. Continuing Legal Education credits and American Association of Professional Landmen credits are available.
