UW Student Organization Awards Recognize Excellence During Pandemic

University of Wyoming student-led organizations were recently honored for their overall work, especially for overcoming many challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic this past year.

UW’s Student Orgs and Entertainment office hosted the annual event. Recipients were honored for innovation in providing care and support to members during the past year. Erik Kahl, the UW Center for Student Involvement and Leadership associate director, says student organizations on campus answered the call this past year.

“From delivering care packages to members in isolation or quarantine to writing letters to nurses and residents of area nursing homes, it is clear that, when it comes to impact and making a difference, ‘Cowboys Can,’” Kahl says.

The UW Student Orgs and Entertainment office presented the following awards:

Sara Axelson Outstanding Student Organization Award: Mortar Board. The award was renamed in 2017 for retiring Vice President for Student Affairs Sara Axelson in recognition of her dedication and support to student organizations.
