Two Shows Remain in UWs Snowy Range Summer Theatre Season

A how-did-they-do-it comedy and a classic tragicomedy round out the University of Wyoming’s Snowy Range Summer Theatre season this month and early next.

The two shows running in repertory are Jeffrey Hatcher’s “Murderers” and Samuel Beckett’s “Happy Days.” Both plays are directed by guest artist Shea King and presented by the UW Department of Theatre and Dance.

“Murderers” will run June 23, 26 and 29 at 7:30 p.m.; July 1 and 2 at 7:30 p.m.; and June 25 at 2 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theater. “Happy Days” will run June 24, 25, 28 and 30 at 7:30 p.m.; and July 2 at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Acting Studio. Seating is limited in the studio.

Tickets are $14 for the public; $11 for senior citizens; and $7 for students and children over 5. Family pack and double feature discounts are available. To purchase tickets, visit the Performing Arts box office, call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.tix.com/ticket-sales/uwyo/6984.

“Murderers” features three distinct tales of revenge, blackmail, money, jealousy, justice and murder. Each vignette depicts the desperate passion, old wounds and cold calculations that intersect in the sun-drenched world of the Riddle Key Luxury Retirement Village in Florida.

Beckett’s critically acclaimed “Happy Days” follows Winnie, a chipper and chatty woman, as she prattles on while her taciturn husband, Willie, hovers nearby. Buried to the waist and surrounded by familiar objects, Winnie goes about her day seemingly oblivious to her predicament. “Happy Days” contemplates themes of time, desperation, disappointment, personal responsibility and the tenuous relationships that bind one person to another and each to the universe.
