UW Board of Trustees to Meet Nov. 16

The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees will receive reports on a variety of initiatives and consider a new campus dining option during the board’s regular meeting Wednesday-Friday, Nov. 16-18.

The meeting will be held in the Wyoming Union Family Room, a change from the customary location because the Governor’s Business Forum will be taking place in the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Public sessions of the board and its committees may be observed by the public at https://wyolinks.uwyo.edu/trusteesnov/.

Committees of the board will meet Wednesday in several rooms of the Wyoming Union, starting with the Facilities Contracting Committee at 11 a.m. and the Academic and Student Affairs Committee at 11:30 a.m.

Thursday’s meeting of the full board will begin at 8 a.m. with an executive session. The public session is expected to start at 9:30 a.m.

Thursday’s scheduled reports to the board will concern UW’s financial aid plan and tuition policy; the Tier-1 Engineering Initiative; the Science Initiative; the Trustees Education Initiative; and UW’s new Navigate student advising platform. A discussion on the university’s strategic plan also is scheduled.

Scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday is a presentation on UW’s process to select a potential new retail dining operation for the Wyoming Union. Part of that process was a September survey of UW students and employees asking about preferences for a national chicken restaurant brand, which received 4,021 responses and found 67.6 percent support for Chick-fil-A; 23 percent support for Popeyes; and 9.3 percent support for KFC.

The board will accept public testimony on any topics at 11:15 a.m. Thursday. Those wishing to offer verbal testimony should go to www.uwyo.edu/trustees/public-testimony/web_form.html to fill out the web form. The deadline is 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15.

On Friday, the board begins the day with a joint meeting with UW’s Energy Resources Council at 7:30 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, before returning to the Wyoming Union for a 9 a.m. executive session. The trustees’ business meeting is set to start at about 11 a.m.

The complete agenda, along with a report that includes background information on agenda items, is available at www.uwyo.edu/trustees/2022-meeting-agendas-materials-and-minutes/november_16-18_2022_meeting.html.
