Wyoming Business Tips for March 6-12

A weekly look at issues facing Wyoming business owners and entrepreneurs from the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network, a collection of business assistance programs at the University of Wyoming.

By Maureen Johnson, marketing, communication and database manager, Wyoming SBDC Network

The Wyoming Business Resource Locator tool, accessible at www.WyomingBusinessResources.org, is an interactive business resource tool that can be used as an informational reference for Wyoming entrepreneurs, whether they’re already in business or are looking to start a business.

All agencies or entities included in the Wyoming Business Resource Locator are public programs aimed at assisting new or established entrepreneurs to grow or start their businesses. Resources are broken down by county for ease of navigation and relevance, as well as by topic statewide.

Created in 2021 by the Wyoming SBDC Network and funded by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act Recovery Program, this tool has added huge value to ongoing business resource ecosystem mapping throughout the state. Wyoming is fortunate to have extensive business assistance resources available, and having one singular location where all of those free resources are listed helps both small-business owners and our partner organizations navigate what is available and where.

Besides a clear map of resources, small-business owners will find an events calendar that is updated weekly and includes events and training opportunities for small businesses and economic development entities in the state. Events listed are submitted by business resources, including agencies supported by federal and state funds, as well as municipal entities.

Explore the site even further and you’ll find a comprehensive collection of articles written by Wyoming-based business resource organizations. Small-business owners will find press releases and articles on topics ranging from the Wyoming Legislature to collaborative training efforts to tips on setting business goals for the new year.

Use the Wyoming Business Resource Locator tool to discover business assistance in your region; catch up on entrepreneurial news articles; and sign up for free training events from organizations across the state.

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers no-cost advising and technical assistance to help Wyoming entrepreneurs think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. In 2022, the Wyoming SBDC Network helped Wyoming entrepreneurs start 68 new businesses; support 2,411 jobs; and bring a capital impact of $5.3 million to the state. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by UW with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
