UW in the News

January 5, 2015

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent articles where UW is making the news.

K2 Radio was among media outlets carrying UW’s release that reported numerous water line breaks causing extensive damage to several university buildings during the winter break.

UW’s efforts to sign program-level articulation agreements with Wyoming community colleges were highlighted by SheridanMedia.com.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle noted that, despite an increase in funding levels, the Hathaway Scholarship Program for UW and community college students is not keeping up with rising academic costs.

Author Nina McConigley, lecturer in UW’s Honors Program and the Department of English, was profiled by the Laramie Boomerang.

Holly Ernest and H. Jo Albers, UW’s new Wyoming Excellence Chairs in disease ecology and conservation economics, respectively, were featured by the Boomerang as well.

The Boomerang also published a story noting the contributions of UW alumni and scientists in the famous research of the so-called Kennewick Man remains.

Robert Colter, and associate lecturer in UW’s Department of Philosophy, published an essay titled “Ancient Wisdom for the Modern World” on a website called The Conversation.

The Boomerang interviewed numerous Albany County law enforcement officers, including UW Police Chief Mike Samp, about the rise of marijuana arrests due to legalization in neighboring Colorado.
