UW in the News

September 4, 2018

State, national and international media frequently feature the University of Wyoming and members of its community in stories. Here is a summary of some of the recent articles:

The Laramie Boomerang reported that UW President Laurie Nichols delivered the first “report card” on the progress made after the first year of the university’s five-year strategic plan. KULR TV in Billings also reported on the fall meeting for the campus community. K2 Radio also noted the president’s update on the campus community.

Maine Public Radio asked UW economist Rob Godby to comment on the Trump administration's proposal to relax regulations on carbon emissions, which is welcome news in coal-producing states such as Wyoming, even though personnel in the industry acknowledge its impact would be limited.

Lilia Soto, a UW associate professor of American studies and Latina/o studies, discussed with Dallas radio station KERA about how Mexican migration of men into the U.S. often leaves young women behind in a state of uncertainty.

SweetwaterNow published UW’s release announcing next month’s Homecoming schedule.

Marieka Arksey, collections manager for UW’s Archaeological Repository, is teaching a class in which students are studying samples taken from the site where a mammoth was discovered at Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Researchers also discovered evidence of four other species from the Ice Age at the Cody-area site, according to The Powell Tribune.

The Casper Star-Tribune noted the fall semester’s schedule of the UW Art Museum's “Lunchtime Conversations with Curators,” which offers free, informal gallery walk-through sessions with museum curators and guests.

UW’s release announcing Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center’s open house this week for the campus community was published by Lady Click, an online website promoting women’s health.

Wyo 4News published UW’s release announcing that the Albany Community Health Clinic, operated by UW, is moving to a larger building in Laramie.
