Brittany Schaneman

National Cattleman's Beef Association

Brittany Schaneman NCBA Sign

Brittany Schaneman graduated from The University of Wyoming College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in 2012. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Communication and a minor in General Agricultural Economics.

Brittany is currently working for the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) as the Assistant Director of web content.  In this position Brittany is the editor of the “National Cattlemen” the official publication of NCBA. In addition, she handles the NCBA’s main webpage, social media presence and works on a television series produced by the NCBA. Brittany also attends several conventions as a representative for the NCBA.

Originally from Minatare, Nebraska Brittany grew up on a family farm and ranch. There they raised cattle and sheep and grew row crops of corn and alfalfa. Brittany made the choice to attend UW, after visiting while her older brother attended the university. Naturally, with her background in agriculture and her desire to “help the farming community,” Brittany chose a major within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

From the large brown and gold University of Wyoming flag that she has boldly hanging in her office it is easy to tell Brittany is proud to be a University of Wyoming Alumni.  She was quick to mention several professors whose challenging classes resulted in her learning a great deal. A few mentioned were Nutrition, Agricultural Law and Agribusiness Management.

While discussing her alma mater Brittany made several comments to the friendly and caring environment that exists in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. She noted several staff members from the Dean’s Office and the Academic & Student Programs office that always greeted Brittany with a warm “hello” and were helpful to her throughout her time at UW.  Brittany largely attributed these classes and caring environment to her success throughout her time at UW and all she has accomplished after graduating.

Durning her time at UW Brittany was an intern in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Dean’s office.  She accredits this experience with her ability to network and advises current students to “Do internships! This is where I learned the most and received hands on experience.”

The valuable experiences from internships coupled with “communication classes that set you up for success” and “agriculture classes that have a good perspective of the agriculture industry” have helped to set up Brittany to be successful. She is working to achieve her goal to be able to “help the farming community in a rewarding way through the constant education” she does with the NCBA.
