About the Program

The University of Wyoming's bachelor of arts or bachelor of science in communication is a liberal arts degree relevant to a variety of careers in:

  • Marketing/Advertising

Program Requirements

The communication degree currently requires 121 credit hours. Three sets of requirements must be met to complete the communications degree:

  • University Studies
  • College of Arts & Sciences extended core
  • Communication major requirements.

Communication

B.A. or B.S.
39 hours total (grades of C or better required)
12 hours - Department Core
27 hours - Majors/Requirements

Communication Department Core:

CO/M 1000 - Intro to Mass Media
CO/M 1040 - Intro to Human Communication
CO/M 3070 - Intro to Communication Research
STAT 2070 - Statistics for the Social Science

Communication Major Requirements:

COJO 2100 - Reporting and writing News
CO/M 3010 - Business and Professional Speaking
CO/M 3040 - Advanced Communication Theory
Departmental electives (21 hours, at least 15 must be upper-division junior and senior level)
Internships are highly recommended. A maximum of six hours of internship/independent study credit may count toward the requirements of the major, and six additional hours may count as elective credit.
