The University of Wyoming’s bachelor of arts in humanities/fine arts is tailored to students wishing to develop an individualized course of study. An interdisciplinary approach, the humanities/fine arts degree allows you flexibility in selecting courses from a variety of areas. Upon graduation, you will possess a broad knowledge of the humanities and fine arts.
Courses in a variety of different areas count toward the degree. Major areas of concentration in the program include:
The humanities/fine arts degree currently requires 121 credit hours.
Three sets of requirements must be met to complete the humanities/fine arts degree:
The UW/CC program covers the junior and senior-level classes needed to complete a mathematics/science bachelor’s degree.
The 48 junior-and senior-level credit hours required for this major must be earned in at least three departments. A minimum distribution of 18 credit hours must be earned in one of three departments and 12 hours in each of two other departments.
In addition, all humanities/fine arts majors must earn 12 hours or equivalent proficiency in one foreign language, including American Sign Language, as part of the College of Arts & Sciences requirements. These hours do not count as part of the 18 hours in the major.
A maximum of four hours of music lessons and dance techniques may apply toward the 48 hours in the major. Music performance group credits do not apply.
At least 24 hours of upper-division (3000-4000) coursework are required in the major with a distribution of at least 12 hours in one department and 6 hours in a second department. These hours count as part of the 48 hours of upper-division credits required by the university.
