faculty, UW/CC adjunct faculty member or other Scholarship Committee
approved faculty member.
- Types
of activities supported include:
- Request
for financial support during internship/student teaching experience (or
similar experience) if student is incurring extra expense because of an
activity that is above and beyond the normal participation in
internship/student teaching experience.
- Support
for independent or faculty related research project. This could be a
laboratory/field/literature/etc., type of investigation. Money may be used for equipment/supply
purchase, stipend while conducting research, travel for research or to
present results of project, etc.
- Support

- Students,
in consultation with the supporting faculty member, must state in
their proposal how the results or products of their activities will be
shared with a relevant audience.
For example, a student requesting funding for a biology independent
study project might present the results of their project at the
Wyoming/Colorado Academy of Sciences.
An education student receiving support during their student
teaching experience might propose giving a seminar for the next student
teaching cohort about the experience from a student's perspective.
- Students
should note that because this award is given as a "scholarship," it could influence their current
financial aid status.
- In
preparing proposals, students are encouraged to visit the Casper
College Writing
Center and visit
with a sponsoring faculty member for help.
- All proposals submitted for any one semester
will be reviewed by the UW/CC Scholarship Committee after the deadline for
applications. Submissions will be
evaluated on quality, rationale, writing, need, and the likelihood of
completion of project and sharing of results. Students will be notified within two
weeks of the application deadline.
- Awards
available for the year will be split into semester pools, with 30%
available for each of the fall and spring terms and 40% for summer. Unused funds for a specified semester
can roll forward to the following semester.
