Flexible Graduate Assistantship Program
A pool of 15 supplemental graduate assistantships are available every two years on a competitive basis. Criteria for evaluation are below. Departments are responsible for submitting a prioritized list to the Student Financial Aid office in early March.
The criteria for these graduate assistantships are:
- Program quality.
- Current and proposed graduate assistantship utilization and expectations.
- Program capacity and graduate assistantship need.
- Applicant quantity and quality.
- Contribution to fulfilling the directives of the current Academic Plan.
- Student mentoring guidelines.
- Recruiting plan.
Contributing to the strengthening research and to enhancing the doctoral component of the graduate enterprise also will be evaluation metrics. Utilization plans for the assistantships must balance a meaningful teaching experience with a research component. Units who have received a competitive assistantship in the past from this program are eligible to apply, however, they should specifically describe the accomplishments of the past assistantship.
