The School of Energy Resources (SER) has crafted a three-pronged strategic vision for the continued development of energy programs at the University of Wyoming.
The plan will meet the emerging needs of the state and aid the university's ability to compete for faculty, students, funding and private-sector partners.
The plan, presented in November to the UW Board of Trustees and the state's Energy Resource Council, is designed to:
SER aims to distinguish UW's energy programs through exploiting unconventional reservoirs, climbing the value chain (converting energy resources into higher-value products) and enabling wind and solar energy.
To implement expanded programming in the three areas of distinction, the SER proposes to augment eight newly created faculty positions with visiting professorships filled by professionals from industry partners. To learn more about the SER, go to www.uwyo.edu/ser.
