YES it can! The UWAA creates partnerships that advance the University of Wyoming and offers a variety of programs and services to enrich the lives of students and alumni worldwide. One membership makes an impact on alumni connection, alumni career support, student scholarships and student recruitment.
Memberships provide the resources for the UWAA to communicate with our alumni worldwide and organize a wide range of meaningful opportunities across the state, region and nation to connect and reconnect alumni to UW and one another. This year, we have collaborated with other UW units to host 70 events and opened doors to engage with thousands of alumni, students, prospective students and friends. Most notably, due to new partnerships established across our campus, we were able to elevate the cornerstone of UWAA engagement activities—the UW Homecoming 2013 celebration week—when we welcomed home thousands of alumni. Our alumni and friends enjoyed concerts from the Bar J Wranglers and Spencer Bohren and an expansion of the traditional Homecoming Parade with eight high school bands participating and new student entries. We also partnered with several student services units to introduce eight new student activities as part of homecoming week.
New partnerships with the Center for Advising and Career Services, the UW Foundation, the career support officers of the academic colleges and admissions are enabling the association to build strong networks of UW alumni throughout the country. These contacts are paying huge dividends for our alumni and students in the areas of career awareness, internships, job opportunities and student recruitment. For details about one such connection, see the article about UWAA’s relationship with eBay in this issue.
