With the start of this new year, I invite you to join us as your UW Alumni Association board continues to “Think Big.” Over the past few years, alumni from across the country have made a positive impact on the university with student recruitment, alumni and student career support, scholarships and alumni participation in UW activities and programs. I am excited  to tell you that your board is in the process of developing better ways to support these efforts—your efforts— in new ways!

I invite you to make a new year’s resolution to become more involved with UWAA and UW.  Individual volunteers are invited to become Brown and Gold Champions. As I write this, we have networks and chapters across the country, and we hope to have even more. Network and chapter leaders can be part of the newly created Brown and Gold Council. Our goal is to have energetic and passionate statewide, nationwide and worldwide representation and participation on the Brown and Gold Council. We want to offer a way to recognize the efforts of these volunteers and provide support, as well as ways to tap into their experiences and share their ideas with one another and the board.

As we develop these new structures together, we will be in a position to do even more to strengthen the bond between the university and fellow alumni and friends worldwide!

In this coming year, I encourage you to re-establish your commitment to our students and to the University of Wyoming. If you are already participating in UWAA programs, please continue—your participation is important! If you want to get more involved as a Brown and Gold Champion and/or through the existing alumni network/chapter systems or to start one in your area, please call our office at (307) 766-4166 or visit the alumni networks section on our website, uwyo.edu/alumni, and complete the Online Alumni Network Interest Form. Your voice is impactful, and we appreciate your advocacy for UW around the world. The World Needs More Cowboys!

My best in Brown and Gold,

Jane Farrell, B.A. ’77

UWAA President
