For the last six years, I have joined my son Doug (B.S. ’98) along with four of his Sigma Chi fraternity brothers and their fathers for a father/son fishing trip that has taken us from Flaming Gorge to Yellowstone Lake to Northern Canada. The University of Wyoming is what brought my son and his friends together. Keeping those connections after college allowed us to start a tradition that will bring many memories for years to come.

As the UW Alumni Association celebrates our 125th anniversary, we invite you back to campus this fall to rekindle or continue those UW friendships and to stay engaged with your alma mater. Whether you visit the campus regularly, have not visited campus in quite a while or were last on campus as a student, there is no better time to return than now.

The 2019 Cowboy football season will kick off on Aug. 31 against the Missouri Tigers from the SEC, only the second SEC team to visit War Memorial Stadium. We invite you to start Cowboy football weekends with the UW Alumni Association each Friday of a UW home football game from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center. Light appetizers and a cash bar will be provided, with UWAA members receiving one complimentary beverage. On game days, the Pokes Pre-Game Pep Rallies will begin three hours prior to kickoff and will feature UW head football Coach Craig Bohl, Western Thunder Marching Band and UW Cheer, as well as the Cowboy Walk.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, we look forward to seeing our members at our annual membership appreciation day at the Marian H. Rochelle Gateway Center prior to the Cowboys vs. Idaho Vandals football game. Please contact the UWAA at (307) 766-4166 or uwalumni@uwyo.edu to check on availability to attend the luncheon. UWAA members qualify for a discount on tickets to this game and should contact the alumni association for information on how to obtain the ticket discount.

As a reminder, please save the date for Homecoming, Oct. 12–19. This year’s theme is “Breaking Through.” For more information about Homecoming activities, visit www.uwyo.edu/homecoming.

We look forward to seeing you this fall and hearing your stories about the connections you have made with fellow UW alumni. As always, please stop by the alumni association to say hello.

My best in brown and gold,

Mark Mader

UWAA President
