Friends, welcome to the first UWyo AlumNews section of 2020. As always, we are honored to celebrate our alumni by sharing their accomplishments and stories!

As the new year begins, it is important to reflect on our engagement efforts and highlights throughout fall and winter 2019. From our new fall Alumni Awards Ceremony to generating Cowboy football watch party fliers, our dedicated UWAA team members are responsible for the efforts that went into the 100-plus alumni events and networking activities that took place from August to December. Our team is looking forward to another year of networking and outreach, so deepen your alumni bond by keeping in touch with us.

As I reflect on the successes of our networking and engagement with alumni, it is imperative that I particularly pay tribute to the 407 UW alumni volunteers who participated in our alumni letter-writing campaign. The UWAA has branded these volunteers as our “Brown and Gold Champions,” and it is nearly impossible for me to articulate the pride and gratitude I have for them and their efforts. These volunteers sent handwritten notes to 4,700 prospective students, resulting in the second-largest incoming freshman class ever. Last fall, 1,760 freshmen students began their UW journey. In light of its success, the UWAA is preparing the next campaign and will need at least 500–600 UW Alumni Brown and Gold Champions volunteers to reach the 6,000 admitted students expected to consider UW for fall 2020 enrollment. If you are not already involved, please email me your interest in becoming a Brown and Gold Champion today at keener.fry@uwyo.edu.

Finally, thank you, alumni and friends, for your generosity and for all the positive things you are doing in both your professions and communities. It is an honor for the UWAA to steward your legacy as alumni. I am proud of who we are and excited about beginning a new year to grow and excel in our efforts. The UWAA could not thrive without your continued contributions of time, talent and, more importantly, your dedication to be the best: The World Needs More Cowboys like you.
