To save time, please follow the steps exactly in item number two.
Determine where your site will be migrated to.
If your unit has an existing CMS site, your content should go there first in the appropriate location determined by working with the site's web authors.
If you require a separate site and have a strong business case for it, you will need to request a new site.
Note, you can upload images and accessible documents to the CMS, however you will need to build out web content using UW's approved templates. Uploading existing HTML files from your site outside of the CMS is not permitted. You will need to use the templates in the CMS to build your pages.
Once you are done, remove the content from your old site, backing it up of you desire, and request a redirect be set up from your old site to your new homepage if you are using UW's web servers. Otherwise you will need to contact your domain provider.
Note: Before deleting a site, be sure you have the site / content owner's written permission.
If you need assistance with migrating your site please contact webhelp@uwyo.edu.
If you need to migrate an existing site to the CMS, but don't have the time or resources, send an email to webhelp@uwyo.edu with your name, phone number and the root URL / web address for your site. We can then begin evaluating your content and assist with migrating your site. Once your site is migrated, you or a designated site author that has completed CMS Level 1 training will need to maintain the site moving forward. Changes to your site can be made and published live at any time with the CMS. The CMS can also be accessed at any time from off campus using the Pulse Secure VPN provided by IT.
