Page titles

One of the most important things you can do to maximize the visibility of your site in search engines like Google, Bing, and Yahoo is to add unique, descriptive page titles for each page.

The page title is displayed in search results as seen here:

Page descriptions are also visible in tabbed browsers as seen here:

Navigating to a page in a browser and checking the text that is displayed here is a good way to test page titles.

Navigate to the page you would like to add a title to.

Select the edit tab.

In the display name field enter a description of the page's contents, name of your site followed by University of Wyoming.  Be sure to separate these elements with the pipe symbol, a vertical line, such as, Your Site Name | Your College or Division | University of Wyoming.

The pipe symbol can be typed by holding shift and pressing the back slash key found right above the enter or return key on a Windows keyboard.
