How to Create a Redirect

for an index.html page

Occasionally you may need to create a redirect page in the CMS to link from content on your site that allows you to link from a page on your site to a page on a site or another UWYO site you do not have access to. Here's how to build one of these links:

  1. Select the folder that you would like the link under, then select New > Default > Redirect.
select external link in UW CMS
  2. By default, the page is titled "index" this is an actual page, so it need to be called index to work properly. This is to replace "External Links" that link to index pages. Please fill out the "Display Name" and "Title" fields for the links to show up properly in left hand navigation. Paste the url of the page you would like to link to in the redirect field Link field. Click Submit.
    paste external link
  3. After you click Submit you will see a similar message letting you know you were successful.
input system name for external link
  4. The redirected page will now be listed in your site tree, as seen below. To link to it, simply select the internal link option on a listing that you are developing and navigate to the Internal Link that you have just developed.
